Needs and Priorities
Each doctor has been asked to submit a list of needs and suggested solutions. Some of the
priorities or health needs are:
· On the individual level, treatment of complex patients.
· Treatment of children with cancer.
· Pediatric neurosurgery for tumors
·Pediatric hematology and oncology
· Continuing education programs for physicians and other professional and para-professional
staff.
· Training and specialization according to needs: ophthalmology, pediatric intensive care,
anaesthesiology, radiology, vascular surgery, E.N.T. etc.
· Equipments needed: a microscope for neurosurgery and an ophthalmalogical microscope
· A video conferencing facility for consultation and case presentations, seminars and
conferences, and information sharing
· Bird Flu – sharing information for collaboration in preventing the disease from spreading
is needed.
· Outpatient cases – evacuating Palestinian patients to Israeli hospitals (usually – Dialysis,
Cancer and Transplants etc.)
· Bone Marrow Transplants
·Pediatric Developing Center – needed to treat diseases such as muscular dystrophy,
congenital defects, and other pediatric developmental problems.
· Pediatric Dialysis Center – needed in the West Bank and Gaza.
· Need for Pediatric Catheterization Experts – There is only one expert in the Gaza Strip,
and none in the West Bank.
· Medicines and Medical equipment - there is a shortage of Cancer medicines and
dialysis machines.
Start
up funding will ensure that the project goes forward and succeeds, and
then attracts
the support and attention needed. This includes
recruiting competent expertise and doing
the planning to ensure that
all is in place to succeed.
