Testimonials

No one can be pleased with the results of the Israeli-Palestinian peace efforts in the last
ten years.
New approaches are essential and FAR has one.

The quotes are from Israeli and Palestinian doctors unless otherwise noted.

Israeli: “First I would like to thank you very much for what you have already done for my
patients. After 20 years that I am treating Palestinian patients, facing numerous obstacles
on my way, for the first time, thanks to you, I actually met the people in charge from both
sides. The main problem that we had in the past year, as I told you in the meeting, was the
strict refusal for bone marrow transplantation. I am happy to inform you that about a week
ago we started to have approvals for the procedure in selected patients…I would like to
recommend a follow-up meeting.”

Member of European Parliament: “I have a new friend for you, Vice President of the
European Parliament,…together you could work even greater miracles than you both
already achieve separately.”

Palestinian: “The Ministry of Health would like to extend its best wishes to you, and to
thank you very much for your continuous support of the health sector.” A long list of
priorities is included in this doctor’s letter.

Israeli Minister of Health: “I was most interested in your efforts to strengthen the working
relationships between Israel’s health care system and those of its neighbors, in particular
the Palestinian Authority. I am grateful for your endeavors, and my door will always be
open to any health care measure you wish to propose.”

Well-known U.S. political and government leader: “You are to be commended for the
practical solutions and confidence building in which you have been engaged. Much of the
work may be in medical and health areas but that has important ramifications well beyond
those areas.”

Palestinian: “I felt honored to be invited to that meeting with you…We need more
pediatricians with sub-specialties.”

Israeli: “Thank you very much for your visit at the Hadassah medical Organization. We
suggest…further cooperation.”

Palestinian: “We are happy to meet you in Gaza…and visit three hospitals.”

Israeli: “We are most grateful…time you took…to meet Palestinian and Israeli physicians
here in Jerusalem.”

Israeli Ministry of Health: “As you well know, the Israeli Ministry of Health and its Minister,
believing that disease and microbes know no frontiers, always welcome such collaboration.”

Palestinian Minister of Health: “I hope my e-mail finds you in the best of your health and
thank you for your attention.”

Egyptian Medical Syndicate: “The Palestinian crisis has been our main focus, supplying
them with medical equipment and medicine. Our focus has never been distracted because
of nationality, religion, color or language. This is a solid concept in Islam.” “I’m looking
forward towards a good cooperation.”

Palestinian: “I would also like to thank you for your visit and for taking the time and great
effort to see us and hear our concerns. It was a great honor meeting you….I would like to
briefly list a few of the concerns mentioned during the meeting.”

     1. The great need for drugs and medicines in the hospital (Beit Jala) which is suffering an acute
          shortage at the moment.
     2. The total absence of modern and state of the art drugs in the hospital
     3. The non availability of a badly needed blood bank which could potentially save many
          lives.

“Thank you for your continued interest, we hope to work with you in the near future.”

Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs: “As I told you [Leo Kramer] we will be able to coordinate any course
on any medical need to the PA (Palestinian Authority) through the MFA [Ministry of Foreign
Affairs].”
